Finley Provines, 76, Sumner, Illinois passed away at 9:05 P.M. Saturday at his residence with all his family at his bedside. Born in St. Francisville, Illinois on October 27, 1934, he was the son of Marshall Corrie Provines and Lillybell (Hasler) Provines. On September 13, 1968, he married Janit Sue Sholders. Finley was a life long farmer in Lawrence County, Illinois and belonged to the United Brethren Chuch. Finley enjoyed model railroading with his son Glen; He was the founder of the “Singing Provines” a Christian Singing Group and was a member of the United States Army Reserves.
He is survived by his wife Janit Provines; son Glen Provines; three grandsons, Chris Provines, Victor Provines and Cody Provines; one great grandson Karter Provines; a brother Kenneth Provines as well as a niece, two nephews, great niece and two great nephews.
Preceding Finley in death were his parents; one granddaughter Vickie Lynn Provines (2002) and a daughter-in-law Connie Sue Provines (2002).
Rev. Mike Rucker will officiate the funeral service. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park, Claremont, Illinois.
